🌕 Nahla News Network 🌌

This project started as a simple question: what happens if you choose a moon at random and study it as if it were the most important world in the galaxy? Nahla became that moon and this tracker became the answer.

14/12/3311: The original soundtrack for Sulphur Run is now available!

Also, a floating point error created phase display lag of up to TWO HOURS when anchoring! This was because of a ~0.00000001 ms rounding glitch in the code. Crazy how these seemingly infinitesimal offsets can create such massive differences. Now fixed... but wow.

01/12/3311: Sulphur Run minigame added: It's December so why not - if you can't play Elite, then Sulphur Run is [nearly] the next best thing! It's really an alpha currently, and it's linked from the Nahla panel up top. It's optimised for desktop right now, mobile at some point! Enjoy 🎮

27/11/3311: Nahla Tracker is in beta!: Now is a good time to consider NT feature complete - the phase clock governs everything such as galactic band cycle, NLT, NCT, drift time and temperature, and it's time to stop things from getting overcomplicated while they're still stable! From now on we will focus on minor design improvements, bug fixes, stability and reliability. If you really like NT, please consider heading to Ko-fi to buy us a macchiato! ☕ 🌕

25/11/3311: Live drift chart added: This shows GMT offset to NLT.

24/11/3311: Massive update to the tracker: Lots of updates over the weekend to our tracker - most notably being the Phase Clock which shows live galactic band phase times, of which there are 12. Phase numbers have been changed to Greek letters for clarity to avoid them getting confused with hours! Overall time sync also has been massively improved. For the foreseable future we will focus on our ground research here on Nahla and update the tracker/remove minor bugs sporadically ^^

21/11/3311: New calibrations and visitations!: Thanks to LCU we have the exact length of Nahla's rotation, which is 25 hours, 26 mins [and ten seconds!]. And yesterday Hope system received a rare visit from a Sidewinder. Welcome!

20/11/3311: Four months today!: Today marks four months here for Zell Ak'inyi. That's a good amount of study, research, solace and relaxation for the Rawrunning pioneer. Keep up with her through Distant Worlds 3 🚀

19/11/3311: Nahla Tracker is in alpha, v0.21: With this new version, NT is in alpha! We have ripped out all the old 'Keplerian' tracker script and rebuilt it around our 12 galactic phase system. This relies on regular observation [i.e. every few days to prevent drift]. Any public release will be a while but we're getting there slowly!

Clarification: Nahla Coordinated time [NCT] isn't truly 24 Earth hours. It's a compressed version of Nahla's 26h 24m solar day, scaled for reference and context. Every NCT 'second' lasts roughly 1.1 Earth seconds. Here we live by GMT.

Day—night cycles beyond Earth vary according to the orbital and rotational dynamics of their respective worlds, rather than adhering to Earth's 24-hour rhythm.

The Drift: A solar day on Nahla lasts 25h 26m 10s, which is 1h 26m 10s longer than an Earth day. This means NLT midnight (00:00) slides later in GMT each cycle. The chart below shows when NLT 00:00 happens in GMT over upcoming Nahla days.
